This morning, The Boyfriend said I was looking very skinny! Then he joked and said I should rename my blog “Fat Cat, Skinny Girl.” 😉
It was hilarious–but sadly, true…My kitty is quite the hefty boy. He’s a very long tabby cat and he’s got some flab to him. He was homeless and abused as a kitten. I rescued him and I think he always feels like he will run out of food.
As a result of this, he eats too much too fast (sounds like his mama!). Fat Kitty is 18 pounds. He’s been put on “diets” before but they don’t work. I can’t limit the feeding time either, because the other cat, Maya, would never get any food.
I’ve read studies about the psychology behind food issues. I think it can translate to the animal kingdom as much as it can translate to us.
Studies show that people in big families often have anxiety surrounding meal times and the fear of not having enough food to go around. As a result, people overeat, or eat too fast to make sure they get enough food.
QUESTION: Do you have food issues stemming from your childhood or upbringing?
Sometimes I still see the evidence of my own food issues–namely the food guilt and hiding food or being ashamed of what I’m eating.
ANOTHER FAST RUN!
I ran at lunch today and had another great run! The sun was out! I didn’t wear my jacket! All pluses. I put on sunscreen (May Goal!). When I got back I stretched and drank water (more May Goals!).
I took the long way around the Esplanade and I ran fast. I didn’t stop to walk at all. Around the 19 minute mark I was having a hard time catching my breath so I slowed to a jog for a minute to catch my breath. My bruised leg was hurting a bit. I crossed the Steel Bridge at 20 minutes and kept running.
I had a great time today!
Time: 31:40 –Beat my best time by over a minute!
Nike+ Pace: 8’50”
Calories Burned: 411
HOT! SWEATY! TIRED!
When I got back to the office, I ate a Lean Cuisine frozen dinner. I think it was Linguine Carbonara. I also had 1/4 of a donut! It tasted wonderful too. 🙂
Have a great day! 🙂

For breakfast this morning I made the last of my Scottish Oats. Sad! I need to buy more asap. I put some Benefiber in it, some Aria Protein Powder, and brown sugar.
I mixed it all together and poured some fat free milk on top.
Do ever fantasize about competing in something? My current fantasy is the Rock n’ Roll Las Vegas Half Marathon! Check out the website here: http://las-vegas.competitor.com/event-info/
Las Vegas Marathon
They shut down The Strip. It’s flat. The weather in December is perfect. They have fireworks, Vegas Showgirls performing and lastly–IT’S IN VEGAS!!
And there’s Running Elvises!
Who doesn’t love Elvis? The Half Marathon costs $145. That’s pretty steep. I’m still in the fantasizing stage right now.
On another note, there are two boxes of donuts here today. It’s taking all of my self-control to not eat one.
QUESTION: What is your fantasy race? (Whether it’s biking, running, swimming, etc?)
Confession: I’m in a cranky mood today. No reason. Hormones probably. To get out of my “funk” I went for a short walk through the park at lunch today.
I feel like it’s been a really long week. And I wish I could take a few days off from work to de-stress. I foresee this weekend being just as busy as every other weekend. I feel obligated to train hard for Reach the Beach as well.
I’m also craving chocolate like mad. Yesterday AND today there were donuts at work. Confession: I ate 1/4 of a donut yesterday. It was good. And today I ate a 1/4 of a donut as well. Even worse confession: today’s donut was kind of stale but I ate it anyways. SIGH.
While I was walking, I passed by Cupcake Jones.
I stood at the window and drooled a little bit.
Cream Cheese Frosting
It’s taking everything in my power not to eat another stale donut. 😉
Speaking of donuts….if you’ve never heard of Voodoo Donuts, check out the website here: http://voodoodoughnut.com/ It’s kind of a Portland thing. But it was featured on “Man v. Food” not too long ago! 🙂
I’m going swimming after work tonight. I hope it helps my mood!
Okay, don’t leave me hanging! What’s your confession for this week?
