Soup is Not Filling

I’m so sick of this tooth! I had the root canal on Tuesday and have been in pain ever since. 😦 That does not bode well for my training. I need to be able to eat real food and I’m telling you, soup is NOT filling.

For dinner last night I tried to eat some real food and was pretty successful. Michael blackened some salmon again (it was soft enough for me to eat) and we steamed some veggies. I overcooked the veggies so they weren’t crunchy at all. I was able to eat with no problem, so that’s good.

I topped the veggies with some Goddess Dressing (broccoli and sliced baby carrots).

It was nice being able to eat real food. I can’t wait for this drama to be done with.

I also got a package in the mail yesterday that cheered me up a little. My Bondi Band!

It’s purple with white writing (even if the picture doesn’t look it). I love it. I’m glad I got that saying on it. It’s totally me. I run because I like to, because I like that my body can do it…but I let’s be honest. I also love cheesecake and pizza. 🙂 I also got a decal for my car:

It’s kind of goofy, but I like it. 🙂

I spoke with my dentist this morning. I decided to stay home from work today and take it easy. Last night was ROUGH. I was in so much pain I was crying. And my threshold for pain is pretty high. I have numerous tattoos. I RUN. I’m training for an insane relay race. I can TAKE PAIN. But this tooth is bringing me down! My dentist is prescribing me some antibiotics. That’s usually a last resort for me because I hate taking them. I hate the side effects, I hate the way I feel on them. But I’m desperate at this point and Hood to Coast is in 21 days. I need to be on my game!

Hood to Coast Relay: In 21 Days!!!!

I Hate Low-Carb

Dinner last night was low-carb. We are attempting to limit our carbs for a few days this week leading up to Friday’s Carb-Loading dinner! Let me just say, I absolutely hate the concept of a Low-Carb diet. It’s so frustrating. There’s carbohydrates in everything: fruit, grains, oatmeal! I think I’ve officially said “Whatever” to the idea of limiting them this week.

For dinner I made chicken with pesto on it (Pesto only has 3grams of carbs). I tossed the chicken pieces (see above picture) and then put them on a foil-lined baking sheet.

I baked the chicken at 400 degrees for about 25 minutes. It turned out a tad dry. I would make this recipe again but I’d do at it 375 degrees instead.

I made a salad and steamed some broccoli as our sides. The salad was:

Baby Spinach

Craisins (yes, they have Carbs, grrr!)

Oil and Balsamic Vinaigrette

And I had a glass of wine. Yes, I know there are carbs in wine. I didn’t really care at this point. I really don’t understand how people can survive without carbs!

My Favorite Wine

I topped the baked chicken with some Mozzarella Cheese. We realized we didn’t have any Mozzarella so Michael brilliantly grabbed a few of the string cheeses he bought from Costco and cut them up. Worked great!

Dinner was tasty. I enjoyed the chicken, even though it was a tad dry. There’s just something wonderful about the pesto-Mozzarella combo!

Yesterday’s post turned out to be a hot topic! So many people had wonderful suggestions about shopping and buying clothes during weight loss. One thing I forgot to write about was that my SHOE SIZE also changed! For as long as I could remember, my shoe size was 8 1/2. When I lost weight I was suddenly not fitting in 8 1/2 shoes. For a short while I went down to a size 7 1/2! I didn’t stay at that size for long, though and I’m now a size 8. It was definitely a strange happening. I had never heard of losing weight and losing shoe sizes!

Since I had pretty much given up on limiting my carbs, I made Oats for breakfast. I tried a new kind today. It has Oats, Barley, Wheat, and Rye!

Oats, Barley, Wheat

I mixed in some protein powder, Benefiber, and brown sugar.

I’ve been sniffing and sneezing since this weekend. I think it’s allergies. But just to be safe, I drank a raspberry Emergen-C.

While I was waiting for my oatmeal to cook, I snagged a few strawberries.

Gimme Carbs!

QUESTION: Have you ever tried a low-carb diet or Atkins? What did you think?

Trader Joe’s Goodies

I made a trip to Trader Joe’s today to get some goodies. To the right, are two different Indian food dinners that I will take to work this week for lunches. I am really excited to try them! The calories are comparable to Lean Cuisines. I will post an update on how they taste.

I also picked up some Greek style yogurt. I prefer the Greek yogurt to Yoplait/Dannon/et al. Greek Yogurt can sometimes be higher in calories but it’s healthier because it has half the sugars of regular yogurts.

The above dressing is excellent! My favorite thing to do is steam cauliflower and put the Goddess dressing on it. Mmm tasty and healthy!

2/16/10 UPDATE: I had the Trader Joe’s Chicken Tikka Masala for lunch today. It’s amazing! So good I want to go get 10 more. 🙂
