July Goals

A new month and a new set of goals. Some of my goals for July are essentially “take it easy and try something new” type goals. I want to enjoy the summer at a relaxed pace.

And stop to smell the flowers.

Here goes:

1. Heal! Be 100%.

2. Make Sun Tea.

3. Train for Hood to Coast.

4. Have a picnic.

5. Try Trail running for the first time.

The last two nights Michael has been kind enough to massage my injury a little. He pressed into the spots that caused me pain and we both agreed that it feels more like a knot in my muscle. It’s really bizarre!

I bought trail running shoes back in February when we had that deceptively warm few weeks. Then of course, the rain came and didn’t leave for 5 months…So I haven’t have a chance to try my new shoes out. There are a bunch of trails in Washington Park and my hope is that by the end of the July I will be healed enough to go attempt trail running for the first time. I will take a buddy with me, be careful, and will also bring my Runner’s Pepper Spray with me. Safety first!

Who has a long weekend? Anyone doing anything fun? I hope to go for a short run on the track tomorrow morning. Then the rest of the weekend is up in the air!

QUESTION: What are your goals for July?

  1. Sounds like good goals, especially the healing!

I actually have to work Sunday and Monday, but that’s okay. I can bring my computer and work at the picnic 😀

  2. Speaking of muscle pain, I have a weird eternal cramp in my left calf, but I’m not a runner. Maybe I need to run it out!

I’ve gotten together with some low-carb Twitter friends for a weight loss challenge in July. I’ve been down then up pretty drastically over the last 3-4 weeks so it’s time to get back on track. Having the group support will really help (and give me a good blog topic).

Good luck on your goals and THANK YOU for being such a consistent blogger. Even though I’ve been slacking, I never fail to read your posts. You should really be proud of your posting!

  3. We’re going to New York City this weekend, which should be fun. We’re meeting up with old friends of my boyfriend, and I’m hoping we’ll eat some good food while we’re there.

Trail running is a lot of fun. Just watch out for rocks and roots!

  4. Good luck trail running and be careful, it can be dangerous! I’m going out on a lake tomorrow and sunday with friends, food, sun and beer!!

  5. I dont have any specific ‘goals’ as such – but just wanted to say that you will LOVE trail running!!!! The secenery alone makes it oh so wonderful 🙂

  6. I like your goals 🙂
Mine is to start moving more. I’ve become very lazy!

  7. I love your goals – they’re so balanced and healthy! I want to add “go on a picnic” to my July to-do list, too! 🙂

    Have a great weekend!
