Fastest Run Yet!

I was obsessively checking the weather forecast this morning in preparation of my lunch time run. It predicted rain and THUNDER and LIGHTNING. YUCK! I kept looking out the window the closer the clock got to lunchtime. I saw a slight drizzle but some sun breaks.

I decided to take my lunch early to get my run out of the way and hopefully beat the rain.

I wore my jacket. It was cold out. The second my feet hit the pavement, I ran FAST. My #1 goal was to beat the rain and thunder/lightning. There was a slight drizzle but nothing too bad.

While I ran, I thought about nothing else but running and running fast. I pushed myself hard. I ignored my heart rate monitor. I was so focused, I didn’t even notice when I reached the Hawthorne Bridge. I checked my watch and it was 22 minutes in. That was an AWESOME time for me! I was 3/4 done with the Esplanade Loop at 22 minutes? My new goal was to beat my best time of 34:40.

And I did! I had the BEST time I’ve had to date! I didn’t walk or stop at all. There was little to no rain. And I feel great!

Today’s Stats:

Time: 32:29!!!!!!!

Calories Burned: 425

(Of course, now I see sunshine outside. Never fails!)

Back at work I showered, did some stretching and I’m reading to eat my ham and Swiss sandwich with a pickle.

Tonight’s agenda is a nice dinner out and Cirque du Soleil’s KOOZA.

  1. Woohoo!! Awesome job. It’s funny what a good motivator rain is to run faster!

  2. Great job!!! You are a rockstar! I have been making excuses not to run and telling myself, I’ll just ride my bike, but I know, eventually, I’ll have to get out there again. I am thinking of training for a 10K in Sept, to keep up with the running. The Irongirl 5K/10K – I’m excited!

  3. great job on your run. My motto is “the faster I run, the sooner I’m done”. I have been off the computer all day, so I didn’t read your post on gu’s until now, but I love the sports beans. They really helped me on my long runs. I don’t like the gu’s, but the beans are great.

  4. Sounds like a great run! Congrats on setting your goal and sticking to it!

  5. Oh that is BRILLIANT!! Great work 🙂 hehe I ran last night and it was a slower run than I normally do – although it didn’t FEEL any slower…strange huh? I blame it on the headwind 😉

  6. are you training for a particular race? what is it? keep up the good work!

  7. Congrats on the speedy run! Don’t those feel amazing?

  8. Keep up the good work. You are truly an inspiration

  9. Oh my gosh, I just found your blog, and I’m super excited to read what you have said–you’re *so* added to my daily reading list. Enjoy KOOZA!

  10. Ah good for you – that’s a brilliant improvement! And good for you running in the rain…I wuss out at the first sign of bad weather!

  11. Cirque! We try to catch the show every time it comes around which is every other year for us.

That’s awesome that you can workout and shower at work!

  12. good job! nothing like the threat of being struck by lighting to get you to move a little faster!
